Financial records are subject to statutory retention requirements extending seven to ten years, while generational wealth tracking spans decades. Solid-state storage loses charge when disconnected from power, and magnetic drives suffer mechanical seizure. Quartermaster implements an annual cold-storage archival pipeline utilizing M-DISC write-once optical media.

The Archival Bundle Specification

At the close of each calendar year, Quartermaster bundles the annual ledger, configuration files, and content-addressed receipts into an uncompressed ISO 9660 image:

The resulting ISO image is burned to inorganic M-DISC optical media, which resists heat, humidity, and magnetic interference for up to 1,000 years.

Verification Protocol

Once burned, the optical disc is mounted in read-only verification mode to validate every cryptographic checksum against the ledger index. The physical disc is then filed into cold storage, establishing an immutable, tamper-proof audit record.
